We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.
We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His bodily return to this earth, in the power and glory to establish His kingdom of which there shall be no end.
We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
We believe the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, who indwells the Christian, enables him/her to live a holy life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. |

When people hear about our church, one of the first questions they have is, "Why is the church called 'The Philadelphia Church', when you are located in Oak Ridge, New Jersey"?
Most of the time they are surprised to find out that the Philadelphia Church is mentioned in the Bible itself.
The book of Revelation is actually a letter written by the Apostle John to seven churches located in the ancient Roman province of Asia Minor. The sixth message is directed to a group of believers residing in the Greek city of Philadelphia. While it is certainly a personal message pertaining to those people living in that culture, it is also a prophetic message, having universal and eschatological significance.
This is what the Apostle John wrote:
"These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens: I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My Word, and have not denied my name. Indeed I will make these of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept my command to persevere, I will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which come down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 3:7-13
This portion of the Scriptures appealed to us for a few reasons:
1. Of the seven churches receiving messages, this is the only one that is encouraging. 2. This message is full of promises and protection for believers who "keep the Word…" 3. Lastly, the Greek meaning for Philadelphia is "brotherly love". We want our church to be a place where relationships are affectionately warm and family-like. | |
